Todd Herzog took the time to learn about each competitor, and used what he learned to appeal to and connect with people. He influenced people’s votes and actions by pretending to have something in common with them – several competitors willingly shared clues about the hidden immunity idol with Herzog. Todd’s people reading skills helped him outwit even a professional poker player to win the million in Survivor: China.
