RealityBug.com - Word from the Editor

I read over the weekend that Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx wanted to give the king of Punk-Funk Rick James his own reality show. It turned out that in the later years of his life, the "Superfreak" himself was saddled with financial burdens and was struggling with family and health issues. The plan that Foxx had not only would have relieved James' money blues, but it would have helped the pioneering musician/songwriter make a fabulous comeback.

But sadly, the plan never came to fruition because James passed away from a heart attack on August 6, 2004.

RealityBug.com - Word from the Editor

Wealth in my understanding is like energy: it can’t be destroyed but it can change form. In the subject of celebrities, many of them are getting reality tv shows now because… well that is where the money is.

But just because you have your own show doesn’t mean that you are an angel. A reality television show would only punctuate a chaotic lifestyle and it seems that the more trouble a lifestyle is the more ratings it gets.

However, not all celebrities are hell-raising incarnate demons. Granted, there are some that NOBODY wants to get stuck in an elevator with, but there are some warm-blooded decent men and women who just happen to be celebrities with their own show. Over the weekend, I happened to come across a blog called Innovation Gone Wrong, that actually gave a list of some responsible reality TV show stars. Gene Simmons was ranked #1 and K-Fed was ranked #5 (isn’t that surprising?!).

American Gladiators - Laila Ali on Pregnancy & Motherhood

Although she'll hit 40 weeks the first week of September, former boxer Laila Ali has said she isn't concerned about exactly when her son makes his debut. She won't put a due date on her baby being born; that whenever he's ready to be born, he'll come out.

When Curtis Muhammad is ready to be born, Laila is hoping she's made the journey easy for him. Although the athlete and Dancing with the Stars alum has continued to work out four days a week, it’s been with her delivery in mind. She does an hour of cardio, and then light weight-lifting for her upper body only.

The American Gladiators host admits that she's been pleasantly surprised at her body's physical response to the pregnancy. She always thought she would gain a lot of weight because she's a big girl naturally. She's around 175 lbs, is 5'11 and has always said she loves to eat. She thought she was going to be like 250 lbs and huge and knows a lot of women who have that fear. But because she's already a big girl, she could just imagine herself being a giant.

Dog the Bounty Hunter - Former "Dog" Producer.'s Suit Continues

Last Spring, Boris Krutonog, an actor who has appeared in movies such as the Hunt for Red October and the Italian Job, and TV's Star Trek: Voyager, sued A&E, accusing them of holding back his salary and cutting him out of royalties.

The Chapmans' claim that Krutonog was their agent and manager; a claim that upsets Krutonog because it's getting in the way of his legal action. "This is just incorrect," he says, "I was never his agent or manager." He insists he bought the rights to the TV bounty hunter's life story and is purely a producer of Dog The Bounty Hunter.

The actor, who is seeking US$800,000 in damages, adds, "They're trying to take my salary and say I was the agent. I wasn't."

Deadliest Catch - Dutch Harbor Then and Now, Part II - WWII Attack on Dutch Harbor

Before the Discovery Channel series, before Captain Sig and his crew of sea cowboys hit the water, before Crab Fishing was the main attraction, Dutch Harbor was more than a fishing town. The Fort Mears Naval base at Dutch Harbor played a major role in World War II, as a site of a major attack, and a site for a key finding for U.S. military intelligence.

800 miles west of Anchorage, Alaska, lies the Dutch Harbor Naval Operating Base and Fort Mears Military Base on Amaknak Island. This island is one of the Aleutian Islands. The base was not fully built until 1940, after slowly building over the course of 30 years, from a simple Navy radio station to the full Naval and Military base. The site proved to be an important addition to the Military’s bases, as it was the U.S.’s only line of defense in the Aleutian Islands. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, the civilian residents of Amaknak Island were relocated. Six months after the Attack on Pearl Harbor, Dutch Harbor was attacked.

So You Think You Can Dance - Season 3 - Top 20 Results Show

So You Think You Can Dance Season 3 airs its first results show of the season and, unlike some reality shows, the voters don't have the whole say. They will ultimately choose the bottom three, but after that it's up to the judges. And I feel that is the way it should be. What do we amateurs really know, anyway? Let's leave it to the experts, at least in the early stages of the competition.

The night starts off with a crazy, abstract dance to a slow moving hip hop song. Its cutting edge and super cool. All the girls are dressed like a Go-Go dancing version of Uma Thurman from Pulp Fiction and the guys remind me of Vincent Vega. It was a Wade Robson routine, and really had to be seen to be believed. Host Cat Deeley looks beautiful as always, and it's time to get down to business and relay some early results.

Jaimie and Hok: they are safe, as they very well should be.
Anya and Danny: They are safe also.
Sabra and Dominic: They're sadly in the bottom three. The competition is stiff this year. They'll be performing solo routines at the end of the show.
Lacey and Kameron: They're safe. The Mia Michaels routine they performed was really something.
Ashlee and Ricky: A lot of people predicted they would be in the bottom three. And...they are. The crowd is absolutely IRATE! Nigel is not surprised, but saddened. He wants to see them do what they do best: contemporary.
Sara and Jesus: They're safe for another week.
Jessi and Pasha: they're safe as they should be.
Lauren and Neil: They're safe from elimination this week.
Faina and Cedric: They're the third and last couple to be in the bottom three for the week.
Shauna and Jimmy: They are safe, somewhat surprisingly.

Mary Murphy seemed beside herself at the decisions and almost starts crying. Benji Schwimmer, last year's winner, comes out to talk with Cat. He then does a routine of his own, and it's pretty good. Now onto the dance solos for our bottom three couples. Sabra is first up for her solo: She performs to a David Gray song, and she's good, very athletic, lots of splits. Dominic is next, and really just rips the stage apart, doing his B-Boy thing. Ashlee takes the stage next and she dances to a Streisand song, which is was a bit surprising and bland. Ricky is up and he does his contemporary thing and he's very good, has good form, but he's still kind of strange. Faina comes out and does her solo to some Christina Aguilera, which is pretty sexy. Cedric comes out and does his thing, and his routine is crazy hot with his unique freestyle/hip-hop/contemporary moves.

Gene Simmons Family Jewels - Gene Steps into the Macabre

If you are a fan of Gene Simmons then you may already be aware of Gene's interest in the world of comic books. His comic book Dominatrix is a popular spy thriller with a sexual subtext. Now Gene invites us into the world of the macabre as the host of the horror comic anthology: <a href= http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1600102093/105-1296143-3334867?ie=UTF8&tag=realitybug-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=1789&creativeASIN=1600102093 "target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Gene Simmons House of Horrors.

"I had always loved the Twilight Zone. I never missed an episode," says Gene. "I read Amazing Stories and Analog. In short, I loved the anthology horror/sci-fi canvas and wanted to re-introduce the format into comic books. [Gene Simmons House of Horrors] is a chance to showcase the best in professional talent, and to introduce new talent, as well. Each story will be written and drawn independently, with wraparound commentaries by myself. The fact that I'm powerful and attractive will only add to the stunning effect of the stories."

The Bachelor - The Next Bachelor

ABC announced that its new Bachelor would be Bachelorette reject and single dad, Jason Mesnick. Jason built up a fan-base after being the last bachelor to get dissed by DeAnna Pappas in last season’s The Bachelorette. The vicious cycle began after DeAnna was rejected by Brad Womack in Season 11 of The Bachelor and was then given the opportunity to find her love among 25 bachelors earlier this year.
Making Bachelorette and now Bachelor history, Jason, 32, is divorced and has a son, Ty. He lives in the Seattle-area and is an estate and legacy planner.
Jason, who has been divorced for two years, became a huge viewer favorite while trying to woo DeAnna, and his popularity increased after losing out to snowboarder Jesse Csincsak. Jason, who said he still believes in destiny, will now get the chance to find love on The Bachelor.

Hell's Kitchen - Recipe of the Week - Spiced Bulghur with Veggies

Finally, a great recipe for our VEGGIE Gordon Ramsay fans! You may be reminded of tabouleh when you make this, but the Moroccan spices and zucchini are an exciting change.

Make this salad a day ahead to allow the flavors to infuse and scoop it into Gem lettuce cups to serve on a picnic.

1 cup bulgur wheat
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 tbsp olive oil
1 medium sweet onion, finely chopped
2 courgettes (zucchini), trimmed and diced
2 celery sticks, trimmed and diced
2 tsp ras el hanout spices (Moroccan Spice)
½ tsp ground cinnamon
1 1/2 cups cooked mixed pulses, rinsed
2 tbsp sun-dried tomato paste
Splash of white balsamic vinegar
1/4 walnut halves, roasted and roughly chopped
Handful of mint and oregano, leaves chopped
1-2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 cup soft goat’s cheese or feta

The Mole - Waiting On the Mole

Mole fans will be waiting with bated breath to hear whether or not the “whodunit” reality competition will return next season. RealityBug.com’s interview with Jon Kelley last week revealed that the host is signed on for another show, The Holy Grail, but whether or not ABC will air it is another story.

RealityBug.com asked ABC spokesman Jonathan Hogan if the network would be bringing The Mole back. Hogan responded via e-mail, “If/when that happens, an announcement will be made.”

American Gladiators - My Husband Married an American Gladiator

"So, I married an American Gladiator." But life with strongwoman Venom is as 'normal as can be' her husband says.

The men Beth Horn meets usually fall into one of two categories: those who are afraid she'll beat them down, and those who want her to beat them down.

That's because Beth is better known as Venom, her character name on "American Gladiators," the TV/game show that pits Gladiators against normal Joes in sometimes excruciating physical feats. Beth delivers beat downs professionally, and on prime time television, no less. So which category, then, does sports agent Bruce Butler, her husband, fall into?

He says when you get married, you want to have your (butt) kicked from time to time, and it doesn't matter if you married a Gladiator or not.

But being wed to a beautiful spandex warrior has taken some adjustment. Last month, the couple attended Wizard World Chicago, a comic book/movie/pop culture convention, where wrestlers and reality TV stars abound. It was the perfect venue for "American Gladiators," a show that entered the cultural consciousness in the 1980s but recently was reborn with Hulk Hogan as a co-host.

For two full days, Beth signed autographs in her sexy Gladiator outfit: skin-tight silver shorts and an ab-flashing, barely there top. When she first saw the outfit, she had said she thought to herself 'Wow, it's very small. I can't believe how small the package it came in is.'

Fans lined up to pay $20 for a signed glossy and posed for photos with her. "A lot of them wanted me to flex, but I don't do that. I don't want to be known as a bodybuilder. It just seems so masculine, and that's not me." Beth told reporters. "But there were a lot of headlocks."

Fielding requests for headlocks just comes with the territory. Beth has said that many husbands would be jealous or not supportive, and she sees this all the time in other people's relationships. She adds how grateful she is to have a secure, supportive man in her life that appreciates her for who she is, what she does, and is a driving force behind her success - almost like a cheerleader. Her husband Bruce has said in the past, he's okay with her giving out headlocks, just as long as the people asking for them don't follow them home.
