A woman is scared of the spirits in her home that is knocking over items and tormenting her roommate. Ryan and the gang soon discovers that past war memories return to haunt. Psychic Chip Coffey guest stars in this freaky episode!
Ryan gave a case briefing to the PRS crew one morning. “Pertaining to this case”, he said, “we have Sarah and Dennis… she have had roommates before in the past, but nothing significant has happened until Dennis moved in.” He then reported on Dennis claiming that he saw some items in the house levitating. “I believe that this case is a possible poltergeist case”, said Ryan.
In a slide show presentation, Ryan showed the group some photos that were taken in the house of items and furniture that was in disarray. “We don’t want to jump to any conclusions about this case”, he said. “If it is poltergeist, we need to look to see if any stress factors are there. Anger…animosity.”
They drove to Parkville, Maryland to the home of Sarah and Dennis. Sarah met the team at the porch and was happy to see them all. While giving them the tour of their home, Sarah showed them a 70 pound bench on her back porch. “Dennis was repairing the back porch where the spirit knocked down a beam”, she explained. Sarah showed them the basement where Dennis slept. It was in total disarray with furniture knocked over.
“So you just left this?” Ryan asked as he surveyed the scene.
“This is just from the other day”, Sarah told him. “I lost count of the times I had to clean it up.”
During his interview with the client in the basement, Ryan leaned that Sarah has been friends with Dennis six months before he moved in her home as a roommate. “He was doing a lot of work around the house”, she said. “I never felt unsafe around Dennis. “
“So at some point, Dennis was attacked down here?” asked Ryan. Sarah said yes and she recounted an experience when he had told her that he witnessed an ironing board levitating.
“The ironing board was moving, it was rattling”, said Dennis to Ryan during his interview. He then spoke on how the spirit was attacking a nearby Bible by slamming the open pages shut.
Back in his interview with Sarah, Ryan asked her when Dennis fell ill. “Dennis had cancer when he was twenty-two. It came back around five years ago. His wife left him and his mother died. I have a lot of compassion. I like to help people.”
Ryan diagnosed the situation as poltergeist activity. The pictures that Ryan has showed to the PRS group, where the same ones that Dennis referred to in Ryan’s interview. He pointed to a pipe in the bathroom that adjoins the basement. Josh and Sergey go and investigate it for some clues. They looked at the bathroom wall. “We gotta see what’s behind it”, said Josh.
Josh went to explain the situation to Ryan who came downstairs to join them. “So you are telling me that when the power is turned off”, said Ryan, “there is still a source of electricity?”
“The EMF, yeah”, said Josh. An agreement was made between them that the energy was not coming from the pipe but from the wall behind it. After getting Sarah’s permission to knock a hole in the wall, but there was nothing there. Ryan asked were they sure that the pipes didn’t have an electrical current and Sergey said no. “They are made of copper”, he said. Nothing was found and the crews were disappointed.
Experienced medium Chip Coffey arrived at the home and greeted Ryan at the door. “As usual, I haven’t told you anything about this case?” Ryan asked.
“I know nothing”, replied Coffey as they walked through the home. In Dennis’ bedroom, Coffey intuitively picked up something. “I feel fear in this room”, he said. “Like someone is afraid. Doesn’t want to show it, but is.” In Sarah’s room, while sitting on the bed, Coffey asked Ryan, “Does anything in this place have anything to do with Vietnam?”
In her interview with Ryan, Sarah recounted the day that Dennis was attacked. “When I came home, I could see the Bible sitting on the kitchen table”, she said. “I went into high panic mode and I was calling his name… no answer. He was next door working putting their window in like nothing had happened.”
“He was totally unfazed by this?” Ryan asked her.
“Appeared to be to me”, said Sarah. He asked her if she found that odd. “I did and then I didn’t because he had been in Vietnam”, she replied.
Ryan brought out the pictures of the phenomena and asked her about them. He learned that Dennis took most of the pictures by himself without Sarah around. “I had never seen any of this with my naked eye”, she said.
In his interview with Dennis, Ryan pulled out the photographs again and showed them to him. “I had never seen these”, said Dennis. “I had never seen any of these before.”
“This is some of the most important evidence in this case”, said Ryan. “Whoever had taken these photographs must have seen this thing.”
“If I had taken the pictures then I must have forgotten it”, replied Dennis. Ryan asked him if he did take the pictures if a tripod was used and Dennis replied no. However, when Sergey consulted with an optical analyst named Bruce Macabee, the evidence showed something else.
“My argument”, said Macabee after looking at the pictures, “would be that these pictures were on a tripod. Just looking at these pictures, my overall assessment was that he worked pretty damn hard to convince me that there was anything paranormal going on here.”
The PRS group discussed the matter in a group meeting late one night. “How can he forget taking the pictures but remember his stories?” Ryan asked. “We did the technical stuff now it is time to push the supernatural stuff”, he said preparing his colleagues for dead time.
Team 1 consisted of Ryan and Chip in the basement. In Dennis’ bedroom, Eilfie made up Team 2 while Tech headquarters was set up in the dining room manned by both Josh and Sergey. After a period of low noises and a couple of shadows, Ryan became to feel frustrated. “I am looking for some supernatural something, ‘cause right now, there is nothing”, he said to Coffey. He then suggested to Ryan that he ask questions about Vietnam. “I am interested to know why I would pick up ‘Vietnam’.”
Ryan interviewed Dennis about Vietnam. Dennis was very defensive about talking about it. “I am not even gonna touch that”, said Dennis.
In a private conversation with Katrina outside, Ryan recounted his discussion with Dennis. “I had a hard-core conversation with Dennis while the cameras were off”, he said. “He told me something interesting. When he went to close the Bible, he said he heard ‘through the smoke!’ It was a Vietnam term…I guess it meant chemical warfare. When he heard that, he froze and that is when he got attacked.”
“So do you think that it was, like, a flashback?” Katrina asked.
“That was what I was thinking”, Ryan replied. “But it is way beyond me”.
In his final meeting with Sarah, he gave his professional opinion of the situation. “I have two theories when it comes to this case here”, he said to her. “One, if this is paranormal, it’s poltergeist phenomenon. Two, that there is nothing paranormal and there is a natural explanation. Are you prepared to hear that I don’t know?”
Ryan at the end of the show introduced Dennis to Cerise Vablais who is a psychotherapist. “She is very open minded”, he told Dennis after he shook her hand.
“The most disturbing part of the case”, reported Ryan in his director’s log, “remains the suspicious photos that the client supplied but won’t take credit for.”
In the final evidence review, Ryan asked the group what they thought of the photos. “In my personal opinion, I’d say that these were faked”, replied Sergey.
