Ryan and the PRS crew take a trip to New York to help an elderly woman and her husband deal with her haunted house. Demon expert Lorraine Warren and the gang learn that there is more to this case than meets the eye...
Ryan and the PRS team arrived in New York City during Spring Break. Ryan stepped out of a taxi and embraced Sergey who is waiting for him on a busy street corner. It was a quarter after 8 in the first morning of their investigation. “Now I am in your hometown,” Ryan said to Sergy. The two men meet up with Heather and Eilfie a little later. They all met up at Grand Central Station to discuss the case they are there for.
“I am excited to be in New York”, said Heather.
Ryan began to brief the others about the case. “We got a really cool case that I am excited about. She moved into a home. She has a beach,” Ryan told the PRS staff as they sat with coffee at a table in Grand Central Station. Heather asked, “What kind of activity does she experience in the house?” “She heard voices before like someone singing...”, Ryan said. “What sounded like someone saying ‘Mary’. Soon after all these experiences have happened, Carol Anne started to research the paranormal, and have heard about EVPs. It’s So she started to record, and she got like a slew of EVPs.”
“She has been having bouts of depression. They come very sudden”, Ryan said.
Ryan then assigned Heather to work with Sergey on the technical stuff while he and Eilfie do the interviews.
They went to Rockaway, Queens which is a quiet community by the water. PRS arrived at the Crowley Residence which was the scene of the haunting. Mr and Mrs Crowley meet the gang at the door. He asks for Carol Anne and she greets him with a smile. Everybody introduced themselves as they entered the house. It was a dark night.
”I am glad you came”, said Carol Anne.
During the interview, Ryan with Eilfie quietly listening, garnered some information about the case. Carol moved in ten years ago into the house. Weeks after she moved in, she began to experience some strange happenings in her home. “Always when you’re in my living room, you hear noises down in the hall”, she said with her New York accent. “Anybody said they heard noises. Sometimes I hear breathing in the room. I’ve heard a voice in the room.” “What about the EVP’s?” asked Ryan. “You know, it just was fascinating that you could pick up voices like this.”, she said. She told Ryan that she was got really into it two years after she moved into the house.
At Ryan’s request, Carol Anne pulled out a ziplocked bag filled with tapes and she put one into her mini-recorder so Ryan and Eilfie could hear some of the voices she has recorded. “Sounds like someone breathing”, said Ryan. “This is the lady I think haunting my home”, said Carol Anne. “Sounds like it is saying Mary”, said Ryan. “So I will be glad to have someone examine thses tapes”, Carol Anne said. “I’d like to clear this up. Whatever is here I want it gone.”
Heather handled the interview with Brian, Carol’s husband. “What do you think about Carol Anne trying to communicate with spirits with EVPs?” “In the beginning I didn’t believe it either”, said Brian. I listened to some of the tapes.” Heather also interviewed him on his grandson not wanting to come over to see them because he is scared of the house. “I don’t think in the beginning it made her uncomfortable but now it does”, he said.
Carol Anne gave Ryan a tour of her home to show him some hotspots of paranormal activity. She mentioned that her brother in law came to sleep in a guest room and claimed that he kept feeling some one pushing him off the mattress. In a follow up interview with Mario Ali, her brother in law, he told PRS “It felt as if something was trying to get under me. In my mind I thought ‘it’s gonna lift you’. So I went and told Carol I am going home.” he told Ryan. “Also Carol said that there was a hanging in the house.”
With the new information about a suicide in the home, Ryan interviewed Carol about it. He asked her how did she find out about it. “They had told my husband.... and we started asking around and people said ‘someone really did hang themselves in your garage’”, she told Ryan. During the interview with Eilfie and Heather, Brian took them to the garage and even showed them the beam from which the unfortunate woman hanged herself.
Because the neighbors told the Crowleys about what happened, PRS went door-to-door to try to talk with the neighbors to get an idea of who committed suicide. One person agreed to talk to them but only if his identity was concealed. The camera was focused on the man’s shadow as he told them what he knew. “Mary committed suicide in the sixties.” the man told them. “I don’t know why she done that.”
PRS enlisted the help of EVP expert Dr. Ron Milione who is an acknowledged specialist with EVPs. When he arrived with his equipment, Carol recaps the story of how it all started with the voices and her fascination with EVPs. Ryan steps in the conversation to see how things were going. Dr. Milione had ran the EVP through his equipment and had Ryan listen to some new tapes that Carol had made that day. Ryan was concerned. “Sounded like “Get out of here and that can be dangerous”, Dr. Milione said. He then took the tapes to his lab for further study.
PRS has their own EVP equipment and attempted to capture some in the garage, the scene of the suicide. Everyone was tense and ready to hear anything, but no voices came. Ryan then figured that the spirit wanted to connect with Carol only.
On the second day of investigation, Dr. Milione returned and gave his thoughts on the situation. “These are genuine voices”, he said. “I had a couple of my other colleagues listen to this and they were like ‘wow’. It seems that she could open the channel to this demonic force anytime she wants. Just listen to it. That’s a pissed off spirit”
Ryan, now sensing that he was dealing with a real malovent energy, called demonologist Lorriane Warren for help. Not long afterward she hung up with Ryan, she drove up to the Crowley residence.
Sergey went over what they did so far and had her listen to one of Carol’s most recent EVP. “It is a spirit,” said Lorraine after hearing one of the tapes. She then interviewed Carol with Ryan nearby. He asked her, “How often do you do the EVPs?” “Everyday”, Carol replied. Lorraine was shocked. “So you set yourself up every solitary day? Carol Anne that is so dangerous!”, she said. “Also in the last three years I have lost my mother and sister”, Carol tearfully said after Lorraine said that the spirit may begin to oppress her.
“This is outrageous honey”, said Lorraine to Ryan and Dr. Milione in private. “What she is doing... I don’t know where it is going to go. The spirit is not allowed to accept its death and pass on.”
“She is getting more and more into it. She has opened up this portal and it has started to come.” said Dr. Milione.
“This house isn’t haunted”, said Lorraine. “It’s her.”
PRS decided to hold a paranormal intervention with Carol to stop her obsession with the EVP tapes. “You are very vulnerable right now”, said Lorriane. You are opening doors and you will wind up with some very serious problems. Stop, stop, stop these!” Lorraine then proceeded to suggest that she go out and be more sociable. Carol agreed and gave her a hug with a promise to leave the EVPs alone. “I will not do that anymore”, she told both Ryan and Lorraine. “I’m glad that someone understands and that made me understand more.”
