The Mole - Show Updates

The Mole is a reality television game show which was originally created in 1999 by Woestijnvis and broadcast on BNN in the Netherlands. It was conceived by Michiel Devlieger, Bart de Pauw, Tom Lenaerts and others, and the format was later licensed in 40 countries.

The Final Four Become Paul-Free

The final four players have to rely heavily on trust for the first mission, seeing through the other player's eyes. The second mission puts Mark in an awkward position and the most obnoxious player gets executed this week on The Mole.

Nicole and Craig are partners again
in the "How's the View?" mission.

The show begins with the final four commenting on how the game is going and how they are feeling. Mark tells how Clay was his friend and coalition partner, he is really disappointed that Clay was executed. Craig says there are two suspects left, now he’ll be playing this game with Paul and Nicole. Nicole says whenever she sees an “exam” or whatever you want to call it, she wants to kick ass so she kicks ass, guess that makes her a badass, huh? Paul notes that there are only two people to knock out before he takes home a lot of money.

The players are still in Buenos Aires. They meet with host Jon Kelley who calls them the Final Four and reminds them they have $331,000 in the pot. Today’s mission, “How’s the View?” is worth $64,000. They are standing outside of an abandoned mill.

Jon asks for two players that feel they are “young at heart.” Craig and Paul quickly raise their hands, then Jon wants them to team up with Mark and Nicole. Paul gravitates towards Mark and Nicole to Craig. They have to complete an obstacle course of sorts but through the eyes of a camera their partner holds.

Paul and Craig have to wear “My View” goggles that display what a video camera shoots. Mark and Nicole shoot the video camera while Paul and Craig will wear the goggles and complete a series of tasks while only seeing through the goggles. Each task is a chance to add money to the pot. They cannot talk to each other and everything they see is backwards. They begin by putting different shaped blocks into a canister. Paul completes the task in time and $3,000 is added to the pot.

Nicole holds the camera for Craig. She says she is a laporscopic surgeon and this should be no problem for her but it was backwards. Craig does not trust how poorly she handles the video camera.

The players like to blame Jon for all
the horrific stunts they are given to do.

Next up, they have to shoot a soccer ball into the goal net. Neither player scores a goal. The next task is pouring tea into teacups without spilling the tea. Paul did fairly well. He said Mark was zooming in when he shouldn’t be and zooming out when he shouldn’t be. This makes him suspicious. They get three cups full, but spilled a drop on the table, so one of them didn’t count.

Craig says Nicole does not have a career in videography. Craig spilled a lot of tea and Nicole finds this suspicious. But, they add $2,500 to the pot.

Enough of the kid games, Jon says. He’s saved the best for last. Paul and Craig do not see where they are and they are positioned at the edge of a plank between two buildings, two stories up as they are prepared to walk from building to building. Once they are ready to walk, they turn the camera on and have to see through the MyView goggles. Paul is first. Once the camera is turned on, all he can say is, “OH, MY GOD! OH, MY GOD!” and he tells Jon he doesn’t like him anymore.

In the middle of the plank is a piece of chalk they have to pick up. After they get the chalk they have one minute to reach the other side and write, “The Mole was Here” on a chalkboard. Mark has the camera on Paul’s feet and he makes it just in time.

Craig was next. He talks again of his vertigo and fear of heights. Jon reminds him he doesn’t have to do it if he doesn’t want to. He said he wants to try. He teeters on the edge of the plank and finally does get the chalk. But, he is walking too slowly to complete the task.

Nicole is suspicious of Craig's
behavior during the missions.

Paul and Mark add $18,000 and Nicole and Craig only added $4,500. For a grand total of $353,500 in the pot, Jon says. Mark tells the camera he thought it odd that Nicole and Craig only put $4,500 in the pot.

Nicole asks Paul about the day’s missions and thinks Craig’s behavior was suspicious.
Paul says Craig is his number one suspect.

Back at the hotel, Mark wonders why there haven’t been more opportunities to gain exemptions. Craig says the only thing worse than being executed is him being there with only Paul and Nicole.

At the next mission “Cell Out”, Jon says, “The games are over.” Each player is put in a cell and has to solve a word puzzle before the door will open. After getting out, the first player grabs a paint ball gun and has a chance for an exemption by shooting the other players. One of the players is holding the exemption but they don’t know whom, so the shooter would have to shoot all of them to ensure he or she gets an exemption. But if the player who is carrying the exemption escapes without being shot, they get to keep the exemption.

Mark finishes the word puzzle first in 53 seconds. He gets the gun and takes a sniper stance. Craig was second. Seven minutes into it and Paul was still working on the puzzle. Nicole and Craig wait for Paul. “What’d you wait for me for?” Paul says after he emerges. They quickly formulate a plan and begin running through the warehouse.

Paul says him and Nicole worked together well. “You have to put your pride aside,” Paul says.

Mark says he has no predisposition for shooting people. He then says he saw a paint ball hit Paul, but it didn’t break. And there was no paint on Paul. Nicole went for the door and got hit, so did Craig. Paul managed to get to the door without being shot.

Paul gets executed from The Mole.

Craig had the exemption, however, and because Mark had shot him, Mark gained the exemption. Paul expresses his disappointment in anyone getting an exemption at this point in the game.

At dinner, Paul and Nicole toasted to the game and still being in it. Paul says he knows the mole isn’t Nicole and that it is either Mark or Craig.

At the execution, since Mark is exempt, Paul, Craig and Nicole wait to hear who is to be executed. Jon begins with Paul’s results, and Paul says, “It’s been a good game guys.” And then the screen turns red.

He shakes everyone’s hand and grabs his bag. He says he kind of had a feeling, especially because Mark had the exemption. Paul tells Jon he met a lot of nice people there and that he also learned how much his family meant to him; that even without the money, he is still a rich man.

Jon says, “Take care, slick,” as the car drives off.

Jon asks all three of the remaining players one by one if they are the mole. They all say no, but Craig adds, “Mark is the mole.”
