Will running through town nearly naked boost
ratings?

More than half of all American households have at least 100 television channels to choose from on their TVs. With all that variety, competition has been tough for The Mole. Its ratings continue to drop as we move into the fourth week of ABC’s summer reality show.

The Mole premiered June 2 drawing 4.7 million viewers. Almost five million sounds like a lot but not when we’re talking about broadcast TV. In comparison, the NBA finals last week took the top spot, also on ABC, with over 17 million watchers on its best day, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Ratings are dropping weekly for The Mole, its second week 3.9 million viewers tuned in, followed by only 3.8 last week – which included the contestants getting nearly naked running around town. (We’ll see if that helped increase viewers next week.)

Will SpongeBob SquarePants outsmart
The Mole?

Taking a look at cable TV one will find that reruns of SpongeBob last week fared almost as well as the latest episode of The Mole, with 3.65 million viewers tuning in. What does this mean for ABC’s latest paranoia competition reality show?

Currently, there is no news of cancellation for The Mole, but it appears as if the show may have been sabotaged by whomever it was that decided to run it in the 10 p.m. time slot, a time slot that traditionally is seen as a factor for poor ratings. Its competition, CSI: Miami however, saw twice the viewers with almost 8 million watchers – and it was a rerun. Where is that mole now?
