Biography
Jon Kelley was born and raised in Lincoln, Neb. He played four seasons as a running back for the University of Nebraska and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism. In 1988, he signed as a free agent with the Denver Broncos.
Jon's 15-year broadcast career has included news, sports and entertainment. He hosted Extra's weekend edition and was its primary daily correspondent from 2001 through 2007.
In the sports media field, Jon anchored, reported and directed for a multitude of shows including, The National Sports Report, Baseball Today, Sports Sunday, and on channels WDAF-TV in Kansas City, KMTV-TV in Omaha, and KTIV-TV in Sioux City, Iowa and WMAQ-TV in Chicago.
Jon was regarded as one of the top sports anchors in Chicago. He reported on the World Championship Bulls in all six of the team's title seasons. He was honored with the Peter Lisagor Award for Sports Journalism and an Illinois Broadcasters Association Silver Dome Award for Best Sportscast.
