Is Reality TV really real?
In wikipedia.org, underneath Reality Television, there is a section that talks about reality tv being a misnomer. Is reality television really real? That question probably answers itself. Anything on television is subjected to respond to ratings and it would be safe to say that people generally tune in when there is some type of drama going on.
Don't say "reality" around Mark Burnett
But back to the question: is reality television in truth reality? The creator of Survivor, Mark Burnett, according to wikipedia.org says no and has even shied away from using the term "reality" in describing his shows. "I tell good stories", he once said. "It really is not reality TV. It really is unscripted drama."
So we do we find ourselves duped into believing that the girls from the Hills are really feuding with each other? Would they had a feud if the ratings didn't go through the roof if and when they do? Interesting question and it definitely is food for thought. In fact, I will ponder over that conundrum as I eat my popcorn while rooting for Heidi and Lauren to become best friends again.
Have fun,
