The Simmons family takes a trip to Sea World for some old-fashioned fun. Things go awry when Shannon gets sick, Gene loses a child and a classic teenage houseparty hosted by Nick and Sophie brings in the cops!
Gene Simmons has an appointment at his house with Ernie Scott a show producer from SeaWorld in San Diego, California. He offers Gene a proposal to do a show featuring the park’s favorite attraction, Shamu. Gene, always the businessman, agrees to go to the park to look at the facilities and confirm the business terms.
Shannon determines this is would be a good family outing and decide to take her sister’s children Jake and Hunter too. Everyone is piled into the car en route to San Diego. They pass the time merrily by singing songs as Gene feels tortured by their melodies.
With Mom and Pop gone, Nick and Sophie have the house to themselves- the dream of most teenagers. Soon, Nick’s girlfriend arrives with some of her friends. Nick excuses himself to entertain his feminine guests, while Sophie replies, “You are just like Dad” The scene is obviously set up for the classic scenario of a teenage party while the adults are away.
The Simmons family stop to rest on their way to Sea World. Shannon and her sister Tracy have a taste for some salmon rolls to the disapproval of Gene who remarks that her food tastes like dead fish. Once they are on the road again, Gene’s driving makes the ladies feel dizzy and nauseous. When the family arrives at a hotel, Shannon runs to the nearest bathroom and upchucks all the food she ate at the picnic. Both her and sister has food poisoning and have Uncle Gene continue to take the boys to Sea World without the women.
Gene is not agreeing with the arrangement. He argues that he has a business meeting there (i.e. hang out sans the life partner, and children). Shannon reminds him that she is sick and is in no condition to go to a water park. He is taking the kids and must spend time with them. She then felt that salmon move upstream and goes to the bathroom to throw up again.
We see the kids having a ball in the Simmons mansion by the pool. Nick is enjoying himself as host especially when he throws someone in the pool. He then notices some new people at his shindig and asks his sister about them. Sophie replied that she invited some friends as well. The homestead with teenagers all over the place having fun and throwing themselves in the pool. Big fun.
Back at Sea World, Gene does his business meeting but makes time for Jake and Hunter. Gene, the rock celebrity, takes pictures with fans. The shadow of fame never leaves Gene, even when he is with his family. The Shamu show starts and it is a packed house. The hostess announces that Gene Simmons is in the audience and our tongue-wagging “Demon” stands and waves to his public. But his glorious moment doesn’t last long for a seal comes up to Gene from behind and splashes him with water. Such is life sometimes.
Gene, the family man, buys the kids treats from the concession stand when he suddenly realizes something: he lost Jake. Gene and Hunter quickly look around for the elusive child calling him “Jakers”. Sea World is a huge place for a little child to be lost in and Gene has no luck in finding hiim. He notifies the police and they begin to comb the park for finding Jake.
Responding to a PA announcement, Gene goes to the park office and finds Jake there. The security informed him that they found the child at the shark tank. Although Gene was grateful for Jake being safe and sound, he bribes the children to not speak on what happened by buying them stuff from the park gift store.
Back at the soiree at the Simmons mansion, things are getting a bit hairy. A pizza delivers 20 pizzas that was mysteriously ordered. Nick and Sophie are puzzled because a rock band named “Untapped Furty” arrives and sets up to perform. They explain that “Dave” invited them and the Simmons kids have no idea who that person is. The cops come and complains about the noise and then Nick promptly tells folks that the party is over. All’s well that ends well.
P.S.- the Jake and Hunter snitched on Gene and told both Shannon and Tracey what happened.
