Gene Steps into the Macabre

Gene and Nick

If you are a fan of Gene Simmons then you may already be aware of Gene's interest in the world of comic books. His comic book Dominatrix is a popular spy thriller with a sexual subtext. Now Gene invites us into the world of the macabre as the host of the horror comic anthology: Gene Simmons House of Horrors.

"I had always loved the Twilight Zone. I never missed an episode," says Gene. "I read Amazing Stories and Analog. In short, I loved the anthology horror/sci-fi canvas and wanted to re-introduce the format into comic books. [Gene Simmons House of Horrors] is a chance to showcase the best in professional talent, and to introduce new talent, as well. Each story will be written and drawn independently, with wraparound commentaries by myself. The fact that I'm powerful and attractive will only add to the stunning effect of the stories."

House of Horrors

One look at the cover of House of Horrors by artist, Matt Busch, lets the unsuspecting know that they are in for one hellified journey into darkness. With fifteen tales of terror, House of Horrors is produced jointly by IDW Publishing and Simmons Comic Group. Writers and artists include, Dominatrix illustrator, Esteve Polls, DWI editor, Tom Waltz, and Gene Simmons Family Jewels star, Nick Simmons, who will be coming out with his own Sculduggery comic from Platinum Studios in the coming months.
According to editor, Waltz: "The stories range from gore to psychological thrillers to everything in between."
Playback writer, Jim Ousley was particularly impressed by the story Circle Seven. He tells us: "Circle Seven" concerns a man who takes a job exploring a portal to hell, against the wishes of his wife. His slow descent into isolation and madness as he observes hell and all of its unfortunate occupants is goose bump-inducing. The truth he finds once he reaches his ultimate destination is a nice tip of the hat to conspiracy paranoia and is the stuff of theological nightmares."
So dive in, fans of horror, while I search my bottom drawer for the latest doings of Bugs Bunny. That's much more my style.
