Lyssa fields a question
It starts with taunts: Kathy Lee snarls at the camera, "We'll send that barkin' pack of dogs back to the kennel they came from." Bounty Hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman retorts, "Fe, fi, fo, fum, look out Giffords, here we come!" Kathy and Dog get nose to nose and Kathy can growl as fiercely as Dog, though their barely suppressed smiles show that neither is taking this too seriously.
Celebrity Family Feud is a reprise of Family Feud, a 1976-85 game show hosted by Richard Dawson that featured real families vying for prize money. the new Celebrity Family Feud, hosted by Al Roker, pits celebrity families against each other for prize money that the winning family will donate to their favorite charity.
The July 1st episode featured four families, one of which was the Chapmans from Dog the Bounty Hunter. The first pair of families to face off were the Pastore family, from the Sopranos, against some of Hugh Hefner's girls from "The Girls Next Door." The contest is tight, but Team Pastore pulls it out at the last minute and will go on to face the winner of the next round. But will it be the Chapmans? Or will Kathy Lee Gifford's brood take the game?
As you probably know, the teams/families are posed questions that have already been answered by 100 people. An answer is considered correct if it is one of the concealed answers on the game board. The more people have given an answer, the more points that answer is worth (one point per person). The game, then, is not about giving the best or truest answer, but about guessing what other people think is true.
Cassidy and Leland face off
The Gifford team, whose charity is the blandly named Association to Benefit Children is made up of Frank and Kathy Lee, their children Cassidy and Cody, and Frank's granddaughter Christiana. The Chapmans, are playing to benefit Mooseheart Child City School (see video). Dog has brought with him Beth,Duane Lee,Leland and Baby Lyssa.
Dog and Kathy Lee face off for the first question, "Things Tarzan might complain the laundry did to his loin cloth" "Shrunk it," Dog shoots out after beating Kathy Lee to the buzzer. The Chapman's clean up on this question and it looks like they might take this round.
Frank and Beth face off for the the next question. And though Frank tries to butter Beth up by kissing her hand, and though he hits the buzzer first, when the question comes up ("Name something people ask you to smell"), Frank goes blank and can't think of an answer! The Chapmans take this round as well, but eventually the Giffords catch up. Since neither team has enough points to win, the play moves to "sudden death"--a face off between Cassidy and Leland. Whichever one of them picks the top answer will win the game for their team.
Cassidy gets the buzzer and to the question "Which animal communicates best with humans?" Cassidy answers "Dogs" Al looks over at Dog, "How ironic would that be if that were up there. Wouldn't it Dog?" Dog smiles and shrugs. Dog it is! Though that means the Chapmans lose. The Giffords go on to best the Pastore's in the final round.
