Duane "Dog" Chapman
Dog the Bounty Hunter, formerly A&E Network's top rated show, is set to return to the air ... "soon." New episodes are allegedly in production, but no air dates have been announced. The show was suspended last Novemeber after an audio clip of Duane "Dog" Chapman uttering racial slurs was released by the National Inquirer. Chapman used "the n-word" several times in a private phone conversation with his son Justin in reference to his son's girlfriend.
On February 21, 2008 A&E released a statement reinstating the show:
“Over the last few months, Duane 'Dog’ Chapman has taken and continues to take the appropriate steps in reaching out to several African-American organizations in an effort to make amends for his private comments to his son which were released publicly,” said the statement. “Since the premise of Dog The Bounty Hunter is about second chances — we have decided to give him one.”
Dog and his Posse
A&E has returned Dog's page to their website and has resumed production of the show. The suspension came on the heels of Dog's year long ordeal with the Mexican government, which threatened to imprison him for his role in the 2003 capture of serial rapist and fugitive Andrew Luster. In late January three-judge panel in Mexico ruled that the criminal charges against Dog, his son, Leland Chapman, and his close friend, Tim Chapman, must be dismissed.
Things may be looking up for the dog and we hope to see more of him very soon!
