Loyals Get First Glimpse of BeLIEve Theater Monday, August 11 2008

After applying on the Criss Angel website, winning loyals got their chance to meet the Mindfreak at the new BeLIEve theater in Las Vegas last Wednesday. Many of the winners were forced to make last-minute travel plans, pay outrageous sums for flights, or call in sick in order to be some of the first people to set foot in the new Cirque Du Soleil theater.

The fans arrived at 6 pm, but things didn’t get moving until 8 pm. The two hour wait didn’t phase these loyals however, and with Criss’ brother J.D. working the megaphone, cutting jokes and keeping mood light, how could it?

After leading them through the Luxor’s casino, J.D. and the crowd of anxious fans reached the new theater where Criss Angel finally appeared to raucous applause. Sporting ripped jeans and a muscle-T, Criss was his usual gracious self, sorting through the crowd for the most dedicated of the loyals. Those with Mindfreak ink were chosen first, but if you didn’t have Criss’ face tattooed on your back, you needed a good story for Angel to place you front and center.

After several hours of filming, re-setting, and screaming on cue everyone was afforded a chance to say hello to the illusionist and shake his hand. The Mindfreak loyals continued to impress with their stories of devotion and inspiration. One woman had the word “believe” tattooed across her back after her she was told she had just a few months to live by her doctor. Another young woman carried her offering of devotion: a picture of her Christmas tree, topped by a poster of Criss Angel in place of the customary cherub or star.

The video filmed in the new theater will be a part of the gala opening of BeLIEve set for Oct 10th. But with the date having already been moved back once, continue breathing as normal. For those who simply cannot wait, Cirque's BeLIEve cast made an appearance on the So You Think You Can Dance season finale that you can watch in the Reality Bug video room.
