Criss takes a stroll on water...
In the season opener of Mindfreak that aired last week, Criss Angel made reference to his walking on water demonstration that had captured the attention of 24 million viewers on youtube.com. Angel, himself a severe skeptic of both spiritualists and magic, never claimed to do anything supernatural. He refers to his skill as an art and is interested to see how his art connects to the viewer.
In the video, Criss in a pool with his ever-present cheering crowd walks across the pool with people swimming by and beneath him. At first he wears shoes but then he takes them off and walks on the surface of the water barefoot.
The Internet community is filled with hundreds of posts from fans and skeptics alike who wonder how did he do it. One person on a website posted: “Maybe it has something to do with his pants?” In the video, his pants hang a little bit below his heel so it could be possible that there is something inside of his pants that is making him float but it seems highly unlikely.
A modern day Houdini...
Another person in another forum posted: “Perhaps he is walking on something?” In the video, he walks awkwardly and there are people swimming underneath him. He could very well be walking on a clear material that is further edited by his shows cameramen. That seems to be the most logical suggestion.
Even still, one may just have to see him in person in order to be mystified or disappointed in the hype of television. In the meantime, don’t expect Criss Angel to give you any of his treasured secrets. “A lot of what I do is completely real”, he has been quoted as saying: “There are no tricks. And a lot of what I do is an illusion. It is up to you to determine what is real and what is illusion.”
