Biography

As a child, Hulk Hogan dreamed of being a wrestler growing up in Tampa, Florida. In the meantime, he was a pitcher of his Little League baseball team. As he grew up, he became skilled at music. He played the bass guitar and performed in many rock bands that were based in Florida.

Wrestlers who competed in his state would patronize the bars Hogan played at.. After dropping out of University of South Florida, he spent his free time at a local gym and soon met Mike Graham, the son of wrestling legend and National Wrestling Alliance president Eddie Graham. Due to his physique, Hogan met Jack Brisco and his brother Gerald. Hogan soon decided to give wrestling a try. In 1976, he began to train to be a professional wrestler with famed trainer Hiro Matsuda.

In the eighties and nineties, Hogan was very popular in the mainstream culture. His persona represented the working class of America. He wrestled with the World Wrestling Federation (which is now World Wrestling Entertainment). In the late nineties, he starred as “Hollywood” Hulk which had a villainous personality on the World Championship Wrestling (WCW). After WCW ended, he returned to the WWE in the early 2000's and he revived his popularity by combining both the good and villainous characters.

Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. He is a twelve time world wrestling champion; six times he won the WCE World Heavyweight Championship and six times for the WWF/E Championship. He also won the Royal Rumble in 1990 and 1991.
