Word from the Editor

Dina had experienced her first quake...

California is beautiful this time of year…

Right now, I am watching the sun high in sky over the Santa Monica Mountains in Southern California. It is about 70 degrees with no humidity. I can see why people come out here from all corners of the world to make their dreams come true.

I was only two blocks away from Kat Von D’s tattoo parlor when I flew into town last week. While in Santa Monica, I was only a few miles from where Spencer Pratt goes to workout everyday. I passed by the block where Morgan Spurlock’s television film crew shot scenes from a past episode on animal rights. It was heaven for an editor of a thriving reality show website.

Yes, I was in town when the earthquake hit. It felt like a tremor but I couldn’t tell for sure because I had never been in one before. Then someone native in the area told me that it was a legit quake registering at around 5.6. Celebrities like Perez Hilton and Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz were vocal about their fright about the experience. A live taping of Judge Judy that day got interrupted by the quake. As you can see, the people stampeded out of the room, which if it was a really big quake would have been a recipe for disaster. You can watch the raw tape here.

but she still loves La-La Land

I guess that the moral of the story is that Mother Nature has the last word every single time. Even in the shadow of the movie and celebrity capital of the world, the glitz and hype of television doesn’t excuse the fact that we are human. When all the smoke and mirrors are gone we are left with ourselves in our little bodies doing our best to exist in the world around us.

Even though entertainment is just a temporary distraction from the world around us, we can have a good time, can’t we? Reality Bug understands this as we are just normal people who are reporting on ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Stay tuned…

Have fun,

Dina Peace
